Issued by Middle East University
Middle East University is honoured to announce the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree upon Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, based on the recommendation of the Association of Nigerians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with the approval of the University Board of Trustees, the International Board for Education and Culture, and the World E-Learning Organization—three of the world’s most respected bodies for granting academic honours under strict and professional standards.
This recognition is awarded in appreciation of Prof. Usman’s outstanding service and impactful contributions to national development, particularly in Islamic education, public administration, and Hajj affairs.
Prof. Usman has demonstrated exemplary leadership and influence at both local and regional levels. His notable achievements include:
- Academic Excellence: Holding degrees from two of the most renowned institutions in the Islamic world—Islamic University of Madinah and University of Peshawar, Pakistan—he has established deep expertise in Islamic and administrative studies.
- Community Leadership: Serving as Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, overseeing the largest Hajj quota in Nigeria, reflecting his exceptional organisational and leadership skills.
- National Service: Appointed as Chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in August 2024, where he is expected to strengthen transparency and efficiency in the management of national Hajj operations.
- Educational and Administrative Innovation: Contributed to initiatives aimed at improving services for pilgrims and enhancing religious and administrative awareness within society.
